Andy Poliquin

Guitar

A.J. Poliquin is a rising blues star; a guitarist steeped in the tradition and reminiscent of Freddie and B.B King, Magic Sam, Otis Rush and Albert Collins and a guitarist of riveting intensity and virtuosity. His musical career has found him opening for national acts such as Poppa Chubby and Matt Schofield performing at major music venues around the New England area.

In 2001, Poliquin formed a blues band with his father and bassist Jimmy Thunder (The Andy James Band) and began playing out in Boston and the surrounding area with a focus of putting their own stamp on the traditional blues classics and original songs the band performed. The band quickly noticed that folks who heard their live blistering sets were more than impressed with the ensemble. The band continues to play local clubs, festivals, and at private events in the New England area.

In 2015 Poliquin formed the Soul-Blues band Valley of the Blue Kings. “Valley” performed, and recorded songs from the late sixties to early seventies soul, r&b, and Blues genres to audiences in the Boston area.

In 2022 Poliquin released the all original album “The Reason” in which Poliquin’s songwriting, vocal ability and guitar chops are front and center. Poliquin’s talents didn’t end there as he also played all drum and bass tracks on the album as well.

As a guitarist, Poliquin’s style shows the heavy influence of his hero’s Freddie King, Otis Rush and Albert Collins, with a bite and energy that set him apart from his heroes.
